Lilian “Lil” Wood

She can get water through a checkpoint, a cart through a bad street, and her name onto the bottom of the agreement.

Lil runs a delivery business in a city where a rope across a road can become a government before lunch. She knows which drivers need paying, which wheels are lying about their condition, and which officials have failed to read their own exemptions. Her coat is worn leather; her patience is less durable.

She really does get the water there. Patients have clean basins because she argued with a man who had a stamp. Drivers have wages because she found a customer who could pay. Those are not small things. Neither are the conditions she begins adding when everyone needs her at once.

The Commons troubles her: a useful operation with no single person she can close a deal with. Joshua troubles her for older reasons. Ask about either and she will probably ask where you want the load.
